How to read bid at certain time and enter that price as limit?
Hi, I want to use time of day as a parameter, get the bid price at that time and then automatically enter limit order n ticks below the bid. Is this possible in SC? Thank you.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
You can do it with spreadsheets. There are a bunch of cells in column J that can be read and included in formulas. You can trigger limit orders at specific prices, based on your criteria. If you aren't familiar with spreadsheets, Sierra has excellent documentation.
Besides a custom program, the only way to automatically place a limit order as you describe is to use the Spreadsheet System for Trading study.
You'll need to enter your trigger formulas in K3 and M3, referencing A3 or J41, e.g.:
=AND(A3-INT(A3)>TIMEVALUE("09:29:59"),A3-INT(A3)<TIMEVALUE("09:30:01"))
=AND(J41-INT(J41)>TIMEVALUE("09:29:59"),J41-INT(J41)<TIMEVALUE("09:30:01"))
You'll need to set the limit prices in J22 and J24:
=J12-n*J21
=J14+n*J21
where 'n' is the offset in ticks.
You'll need to set the order types in J71 and J73 to 'L'
'
Signal Only On Bar Close' should be set to No.
You don't have to use M3/J14 if you don't want to go short.
