Hi all, new beginner from Spain here

The amount of useful info is amazing around here so i would like to thank you all, but I would also need a quick advice...
I would like to start trading stock online. I know IB is among the best but I don't have that kind of money to invest so I was looking for an alternative, cheaper but still safe.

any suggestion?

thanks!

What is your capital that you can allocate ? I'm 27 so i could start with just 5k, more or less. then I would add each month a variable amount (few hundred).
What is the amount of time you can allocate ? 2-3hrs per day after work for studying and checking things. looking mainly at medium/long-term investments and shares with dividend
What is your knowledge on various instruments ? fairly low but I can learn, so far in EU I can see we have available only IB and Degiro, basically
What is your IT knowledge ? Ok i guess but I am not a coder or a dev

The reason for asking, sooner or later it's all about 'edge'.
Edge is an advantage on the broader participants in the market.

Your edge can be knowledge, skills, tools, etc...

I think you need to learn a lot first, there is a lot of information to be found here.
Try to avoid any 'get-rich-quick' schemes.. non of all of that works...

I always found myself to be pretty sharp and a quick learner but as I got into trading, it is a different beast.

I've been swing trading equities for about a year now and it's been a back and forth battle. More recently, I've gotten into daytrading the ES and again, it's a battle.

I've gone through countless books, hours and sim trading over the past several months. I suggest sim trading first and even if you do well for a few weeks, perhaps a few months is better to ensure consistency. Throwing down 5k after a reading a few books and videos is not a good way to get started.

5k is probably too small to trade stocks. Maybe you could try forex or microlot futures.

Emmett has reviewed a broker with low commissions, but it's outside the U.S. and
some of the comments have called it questionable.
