Has anyone noticed the insane volatility that we've had today and yesterday in the closing session of the NQ?
In case you missed it.
2016-07-27 after ~4pm the market dropped 12.25 pts to 4682.25 in one minute, then within 4 minutes we were up 30.75 pts to 4713.
and today 2016-07-28 at around the same time, market went up 17.5 pts in one minute, dropped 28 pts the next, only to go up 25.75 pts the next before somewhat stabilizing.
In case you are wondering, daily ATR for the last 10 days is sitting at 44.5 pts
On day 1 I thought algos had something to do with the move as 2 hours earlier we had the FOMC announcement, but after today I was left with my head scratching wtf
Below is a 1 minute chart for the pit session with volume to give you an idea of the move today, as well as a 5-Minute volume profile of the hour leading to the move.

I'm trying to figure out the logic here. What does the party responsible gain from executing this? Is someone purposefully triggering algos in hopes of getting this response? Or are people consciously buying and selling crazy amounts at once at market value without giving the market time to absorb? What is going on?
My only logical theory right now is that some algos are being triggered by corporate earnings and with a lot of companies releasing them this week, we are getting crazy buy followed by crazy sell signals. However, that's a 100% guess and I haven't done much research into that right now.
Thoughts?
