Hi, I decided to start this journal to keep track of my thoughts, to try to write down the concepts I'm learning, possibly to get some yelling for what I'll do wrong!
So if you see some bad mistake trow me a shoe in the head without hesitation :D
I began getting interested in trading almost a year ago, in the last few months I've been following online trading formation lessons and I'm beginning to better understand the basics.
I started it all to try and see if I could build an automated strategy to make some profit, and I discovered that there's a whole world to get to know before even thinking to go live.
I have an IT degree so I can program, I started learning NT7. Then at the online course the made me install MT4 but I didn't even start to program it, the strategies they are teaching are too basic to even bother (a part from the risk management that would be too hard to program at the moment).
I don't know if I can mention the school whose lessons I'm following. Let's just say that I'm full aware that their strategy probably won't work, but i find very useful their concepts of risk management, portfolio, dangerst to avoid and so on.
For example they suggest not to use a trailing stop, but just fixed stops, as trailing stops usually reside on the client and not on the server, and I agree.
Lately I found that FXCM has a platform that runs on desktop, mobile and web, they are all sinchronized and they claim that all orders reside on the server and not on the client, and it would be the best option to me, so I'm doing my testing on their platform.
One thing I forgot to mention: the online course is made for people who can spend an average o 1 hour per day trading, so it's long term trading.
I would like to build a strategy that runs on its own but we'll see if I can get there.
