Does anyone know anything about IW's Raptor Trading System?
I know Indicator Warehouse's president is persona non-grata on futures.io, and the pros and cons of their Dynamic Trading System have been debated at lengthen in the Forum in the past.. That said, I find it curious that I've been unable to find any mention of the Raptor Trading System(RTS) at all. It may well be because I'm a newbie at participating on futures.io, and I don't know how to use the search function yet.
Anyway, at first glance, RTS appears very workable to me. I'd like to know if any members have used it and what their opinion of it is. Alternatively, perhaps someone looked into buying it but didn't for one reason or another. I'd be equally interested in hearing why they decided against it.
Thanks to everyone for your consideration of my query, and Best Wishes for a safe, healthy, & prosperous 2016 to one and all.
I'll be the first to say it, save your money, learn price action, combine with a sprinkling of indicators already in the elite section here at nexusfi.com.
I have the rest of the DTS system, trust me... it doesn't make you a better trader. They're not bad tools, not disparaging DTS at all, just realize that an indicator or a system is not going to be a holy grail.
This thread has a number of setups dating all the way back to 2010 (NinjaTrader 6.5). I was in my experimental / learning phase (and in some respects, still am!)
Many things have changed since then. Best to scroll down to the last page in the thread …
All the indicators anyone would ever need are on this board, though there are several trading journals that will show you folks starting with a bunch of indicators then graduating to no indicators, (or maybe just a MA, and lines like PATs), then over to swing trading.
I purchased the Indicator Warehouse Raptor Trading System (iwRTS) last year but I would not recommend the system as a viable trading system.
Believe me, I tried very hard to make this thing work, but to no avail. The biggest problem with iwRTS was that the signals would repaint themselves. It was virtually impossible to back test the system. In a nutshell, historical trade signals did not match actual live signals.
My back test results were pretty impressive, showing win-rates 85% or greater, and I was sure this was the system that would make me into a profitable trader. Unfortunately, as soon as I traded the system live (and/or on market replay), the signals would be different and the actual profitability of the system was significantly lower than my back test statistical results showed. It was, to say the least, very frustrating.
Please note that I have been told that the iwDTS system does not suffer from this repaint problem, so you may consider purchasing DTS instead of RTS. I have no comment and/or insight with DTS except from what I've seen in the Indicator Warehouse trading room. Since I did not purchase DTS nor did I exchange my RTS with DTS, it will be obvious that I was not impressed with what I observed.
Obviously, others smarter than I could have made the RTS work for them and I would encourage them to speak up. However, I have since moved on and am trading a completely different system now.
Chris, I'm excited to check out the resources you shared. As a newbie to participating in the forums, I'm not skilled at navigating my way around it. I know I never would've found my way to the areas to which you provided direct links. PS: many moons ago I lived in Sterling, VA. I was a member of the Loundon County Planning Board that approved the site plan for Ashburn Village. I suspect you decided to become a trader rather than deal with the horrendous rush hour traffic that the area experiences twice daily.
PilotTrader: Could you please clarify a point of confusion for me? Did the signals repaint only during your back testing or did they also repaint when trading live/market replay? May I also ask how long ago you tried RTS? I'm curious if they might have fixed the problem as of now. I interested in finding out more from you as I'm very impressed with Unirenko Bars and what I believe is their strength, i.e. ability to maximize profits at least IMO. I known RTS uses Mean Renkos and they are somewhat different from Unirenkos. My plan was to use the RTS entry signals (if the proved to be valid) with the Unirenkos. I haven't ruled the possibility out completely yet, but in light of your feedback, I'm more skeptical than before for sure.
Thank you both for sharing your experiences and views with me. This is exactly the kind of feedback I had hoped for as an Elite member of futures.io. Many ticks to you both in 2016.
Signals during live trading does not reprint. Problem is that signals during live trading fails more often than signals used during back testing. I had to constantly refresh the charts to get the 'correct' signals. IW is aware of this problem but is not able or unwilling to fix it. I purchased RTS five or so months ago. Not much difference between MeanRenkos and UniRenkos except for more control with UniRenkos. Both works fine with RTS. If only RTS would work, then all would be well.
Good discussion going on IW Raptor and mean renko bars. Zaydie I moved from Northern Virginia (Clifton) about 13 years ago and have to say I don't miss that horrendous traffic at all. Since I was born in DC I thought I would miss the area but don't.
Regarding IW Raptor, I totally agree with PilotTrader, in fact, we've been working together over the past year or so on several systems and alas, I too had to give up on Raptor. I like Adam, Ben and Erich at IW but I was unable to get consistent results with the Raptor setups, even with some brilliant modifications to the system that PilotTrader was able to develop and backtest.
As much as I like UniRenko and Mean Renko, I have too given up on using them for trading. There are brilliant traders, developers and programmers who know much more than do I on the subject of using renko bars for trading but the lousy results that I have gotten using them over the past several years on many different systems is not worth the nice smooth price action they provide. I'd suggest doing a detailed search on the subject here at futures.io and see what you come up with regarding the use and attributes of renko bars in general and the UniRenko bar specifically.
