After some thinking, now may be a good time to start a trading journal on FIO

That's for sure, and I look forward to seeing it.

I merely lack good technique

You realize, really, that this isn't "mere" at all, but is very much a "core issue"?

My reasonwas that I was too self-conscious to practice while someone else was in the appartment.

All the best.

I never had any problems learning instruments. I play piano, violin, guitar. I picked them up fairly quickly, mostly on my own. Trading, on the other hand, has been way way way tougher. Main reason is that I held negative beliefs about money, my habitual thinking was not correct (scarcity mentality) and therefore I create results according to my beliefs, regardless of the exponential growth in skill and understanding. None of that subconscious self-sabotage occurred whilst playing instruments. There was no fear involved in making mistakes, and so learning to play them gave me great enjoyment. Put me on a stage with thousands of people, on the other hand, and you get the equivalent of a sim trader transitioning to live (usually).

Understanding yourself is just as important as understanding markets.

I find it telling that every point in the article ends up with "so you give up". To me that's an indication that the article is trying to say "don't give up" - always good advice in general
