Hello guys,

Two quick questions about Ninja. But first a little background: I am paper trading a swing stock strategy (holding for 2-3 days most likely). I don't need fast updates or very accurate information at this point. Something very simple will do.

With that in mind, I've heard, on this very forum, that NT isn't quite good at handling more than 10-20 instruments at the same time. My use would be the following: have 3-4 charts on the screen most of the time and have two/three different lists of stocks with prices and bid/ask spread info. I think NT would be sufficient for such a use, although the aforementioned comment got me worried.

Second question: I want a really cheap stock feed (US, but european, canadian etc are welcome if reasonably priced). As I have mentioned, I don't need low latency or high precision. Also, I am paper trading. This is why I am going for the cheapest thing that would be compatible with NT. I've seen IQfeed mentioned a couple of times on this forum, but that seems to be sort of a luxury retailer feed.

Thank you for your help.

For your purposes NT7 should work. Doesn't sound like your approach is highly computation intensive. Note that NT8 is much better than NT7 for dealing with large numbers of instruments.

Make sure that your Ninjatrader data folders are EXCLUDED from virus and malware scanning and from Windows indexing.

Kinetick data feed is good too. It is a rebranded, slightly cheaper variant of IQFeed, optimized to work with Ninjatrader.

Based on past experience I would not consider using Barchart.com data.

Thanks for your answer.

Kinetick is still 55$ (a little steep for my hobby use) and most of the features they provide are of no use to me.

Also, what do they mean by up to "view up to 100 symbols simultaneously"?

It means you can receive up-to 100 tickers simultaneously. If you need to view 500 tickers real-time, for example, you have to pay more.
