SMA that changes color if flat, sloping up, or sloping down
There are a huge number of these. You could probably find some in the free NinjaTrader thread with a search. I did an advanced search of the download section using "ma slope" and got a ton of hits.
This is one I like. You can use either the anaBollingerUniversal or anaKeltnerUniversal of @Fat Tails, setting the bands and paintbars to hidden. The nice thing about these is that the "neutral" slope depends on recent volatility, and so is self-adjusting.
Here's how it looks:
Settings are like this. Set the MA type to SMA and channel lines and paintbars to false. (Or you can leave paintbars true and get a useful coloration of the bars based on MA trend.):

(If you're not showing the bands themselves, the two versions are the same for the MA's.)
bobwest, thank you for your help, but these are moving averages (mean lines) as part of bollinger bands and keltner channels. I am looking for just a stand alone simple moving average. Slope up green, neutral yellow, slope down red- perfect. But i do not want them as part of another indicator. Just like a default simple moving average in NinjaTrader 7. I just want it to change colors according to slope up, neutral, or slope down.
Here is a basic indicator that shows uptrends, downtrends and no trends (neutral) based on what EMA (exponential moving average) setting you like.
Also included is an SMA colors indicator.
