How do you get your indicators (ex. MAs) to initialize at the beginning of the cash or main trading times on your charts when your charts are set for the "main" trading sessions? Using NT 6.5

Attached you will find a screen shot showing the ES market (5 min chart) with session times set as 8:30 am - 3:15 pm.

Could someone let me know if the two MAs are initializing correctly for each day. The large gap in price between days "seems" to be corrupting the MAs. If this is not true, then great! If it is true, is there a fix for this other than setting the session times to 24 hrs? And will this give a true indicator initialization for the beginning of the set trading session?

Thanks for any help!

MA is to smooth out price fluctuation think of gap as a 1 big fluctuation then certainly your MA is not corrupted and if you don't like its look then just ignore it until it looks smooth again.

Cory,

Thanks for the reply Cory. It was helpful.

Would it be prudent to set the trading session time to say 7:30 am or 8:00 am instead of 8:30 am to allow the indicator time to initialize before the day session?

Remember, if you are using a 50 EMA, then 50 bars are needed before the EMA is totally accurate. On a 5 minute chart that would take over 4 hours. Dan
