I'm using NT 7, I have gone to Instrument Lookup, asked for VIX and found ^VIX with title "CBOE Volatility Index" and when I add it, I get nothing - a complete blank chart.
I have a Live Account, NT Brokerage.
What am I doing wrong?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
If you are using their Continuum data feed you have to call them and ask to have "index data" added to your data package, if I recall correctly it's going to be an extra 5$ per month.
I could have sworn I was told that it was included with the index data when i set up my account with them, but apparently I must have misunderstood him, I apologize for that.
I use Think or Swim(TD Ameritrade) for all my market internal, HBLVR, cash and VIX analysis, I do not use NTB for that. TD doesn't charge the CME fee or have a minimum trade required fee with a funded account ( I believe their minimum is $50 and they have ACH transfers at no charge) You get realtime stock, option, forex, futures and internal data at no charge with a funded account.
I apologize again for the incorrect information and will edit my original post.
I hope you find a solution and happy trading!
AEM
Edit: I'm unable to edit my OP. I reported it to have Mike, or another mod, edit/delete it.
Watch out if you're using Interactive Brokers either as a feed or as a trading platform - VIX is no longer supported by NinjaTrader because they won't adapt to the new weekly VIX contracts that have gone live last month. Even if you're using another data feed, you can't put in any orders from NT or from any strategies running in NT.
I was trading a strategy on VIX for a long time and was very disappointed to see that they've chosen to do this. Particularly right before the big moves the past few days. Any competitors who are interesting in making a migration proposal for customers trading VIX on IB please let me know
