I have switched from Dorman to IB and in attempting to connect using IB data, was hit with the issue of too many data requests from NT and realized that IB data was pretty much worthless. now on the search for a reasonable value for real time and historical data provider. Kinetick is very pricey for me - $55 a month for not a whole lot and then I have to purchase subscriptions to the exchanges on top of that leaves me back on the search.
Does anyone recommend a data provider that can give me a decent amount of historical data for backtesting as well as reliable yet affordable realtime data?
I'm lost :-(

If you are looking for market data service provider, Kinetick, eSignal and IQFeed are the main ones. Exchange fees are the same for all three so from a pricing perspective, Kinetick is about 1/2 the cost of the other two.
Alternatively, purchase a Multi-Broker license if you don't have one, maintain an account with Dorman and you can connect to that account first for data and as a back up trading account and trade through Interactive Brokers as your primary. This scenario will avoid paying subscription fee to a market data service provider.
What about the DTN Market Access Historical Service offered by Linnsoft with their paltform? $15/month for historical data from IQFeed. I wonder why Ninja does not offer a similar deal.
I have decided for the time being to trade forex exclusively. it's the cheapest option that fits all my needs. I can get my data free from FXCM using NT and forex gives me a broad spectrum of leverage options. I can scale down to just a few thousand share lots with very little R/R and later scale up to larger lots as I get to know those markets better. So far so good. i'm saving myself $95 a month in data fees.
