Does NinjaTrader have 'script' and 'backtest in visual mode' as Metatrader4, or not?
For some weeks I'm getting close to NinjaTrader, after a quick review of C #.
I have read the platform with its functionality, and now I switched to NinjaScript watching a couple of BigMike Trading's videos.
What saddens me, and I ask confirmation or denial who understands NinjaTrader ... in this platform:
1) there is no such thing as the "SCRIPT" of Metatrader, very useful to train with the pieces of code, interrogate market data and verify functionality, before placing them in indicators or trading system
2) there is no possibility to do a backtest in VISUAL MODE, tick to tick (or bar to bar) with the F12 key (as it is in Metatrader)
Is that so? or I still have not found out where are these two important tools for me?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I use NinjaTrader a lot. I can't comment on #1, because I am not familiar enough with Metatrader to know what this is. However, for #2, I am familiar with that visual mode in Metatrader. I think you can get something similar in NinjaTrader by using a market replay connection. I have done this to test custom indicators only, but I don't see why it would not work with a ninjascript strategy. I have live trades in NinjaTrader open right now, so I can't test it out.
If you don't need to see the trades execute as time passes by in a simulated backtest, you can review the "Chart" tab in the output of a Strategy Analyzer backtest after the backtest has finished running. You can add indicators to that chart tab as you like after the fact as well.
Thanks Ian,
I confirm about Market Replay and Output window,
