28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization

A group of politicians and businesspeople are developing a plan to build an international high-level nuclear waste dump in South Australia--a nation that has no commercial nuclear reactors. The plan is strongly opposed by many South Australians and by an overwhelming majority of Aboriginal people, who own the land.

The Australian Nuclear Free Alliance, representing Aboriginal people from across Australia, calls on nuclear nations NOT to dump nuclear waste in Australia. The nuclear industry has a track record of Aboriginal dispossession and environmental pollution--from atomic bomb tests to uranium mining to nuclear waste dump proposals.

NIRS is supporting our friends in Australia and we hope you, and your organization, will too, by signing on to a petition of support.

NIRS' #NuclearIsDirty Campaign is a series of opportunities to learn more about how and why nuclear power does not provide clean energy, and to take action to limit its dangerous impacts. Any nuclear “disposal” site will, in the end, be a “controlled” release site, where radioactive gases escape to the atmosphere and radioactivity move with water down into the ground and groundwater.

NIRS used the phrase “Stop Mobile Chernobyl” in the 1990’s to fight excess, unneeded and dangerous shipment of highly radioactive waste across the U.S. These shipments are of the same kind of fuel that exploded and burned at Chernobyl in 1986 and melted down at Fukushima Daiichi in 2011. Now we call that work Stop Fukushima Freeways! Either way, the release of radioactivity from a shipping “mishap” would cause the same type of contamination, albeit likely more local.

Today I have stuck the word “Global” in front of “Mobile” since 32 nations currently generate highly radioactive spent nuclear fuel…and this dump could facilitate the expansion of nuclear energy, and therefore waste generation even more widely. Imagine a shipping campaign of the world's lethal high-level radioactive waste to Australia, threatening the oceans of the Earth: A Global Mobile Chernobyl!

Just Google: "A Global Mobile Chernobyl! to sign this petition.

My 2 cents:
It is the height of ignorance and stupidity, that we are using Nuclear Power Plants when we do not have proper safety measures in place. Our scientists can'f figure out, how to stop Fukushima from continuing to dump nuclear waste into our oceans, which are going to affect us all and future generations!!!!!

If you think, this doesn't affect you because of where you live, think again. All levels of radiation in water supplies, are rising and will continue to rise. Japan, just had another 5.1 earthquake etc.

Also, I couldn't believe shortly after Fukushima nuclear disaster, President Obama OK the construction of 2 nuclear power plants (1 in Texas and another I can't remember. The kicker is, it is or was to be built by the same company that created the Fukushima Nuclear Power plant and they had a horrible track record for safety etc.)

We should not be using Nuclear Power Plants because disasters can not be prevented and in Fukushima's case, we can't figure out how to stop it and there is no way to control nuclear waste. France has nuclear waste leaks, where they buried their Nuclear waste. It just eats through anything, we bury it in and it will take centuries for it to stop being harmful.
