This should be simple and no doubt I am making it hard.
In Sierra, how can I create a single chart that will plot a synthetic creation:
1) Long symbol 1 @ 100 shares, currently trades at $10.00
2) Short symbol 2 @ 100 shares, currently trades at $25.00
3) Long system 3 @ 100 shares, currently trades at $10.00
So three tickers, two long, one short. Equal weight.
The plot would replicate the behavior of being long #1 @ 100, short #2 @ 100, long #3 @ 100 on the starting date.
Are these functions documented somewhere? Tried to look thru Sierra help, couldn't find them.
I am assuming butterfly is doing the inverse of the primary chart (1), and then whatever weight on chart 2 and 3.
You could accomplish the same with the 3-spread chart using -1, 1, 1 weights, right?
Where am I missing the ability to just do a simple two chart spread? Say I want to look at long F and short GM, equal weight. I assume there isn't a "spread" study for this, and I would just need to use a different study, like maybe Difference?
There is a little bit of documentation that just shows the formulas and they are different. For 2 charts, I think you are right that you can just use the 'Difference (Bar)' study.
