I have been thinking for a while now about possibly having a futures.io (formerly BMT) regional get together and wanted to get some people's input and check the level of interest.
The basic idea is that I could rent a building here in Duisburg, Germany that could hold 150 - 175 people and then members of futures.io (formerly BMT) could come together for a Friday night and Saturday to get to know each other & network. We could also have a respected member of the futures.io (formerly BMT) community be a speaker at the event so that it can be well informative as well. I figure that we could have a small number of vendors (not too many) which may include NinjaTrader and/or another one or two software companies. This could also help people to learn their software better or look more into purchasing a software if they have not yet.
If we did something like this, we could work to keep the costs very low and maybe charge around 35 Euros for the event per person (which would more than likely include some kind of food & refreshments). It could a bit higher or lower depending on the costs of everything - but nobody would be planning on getting rich from the event...pretty much just enough to cover some basic costs.
If there would be some serious interest, then I would be happy to start working on some of the planning for it and if there is somebody who would be interested in teaching a couple of sessions, or if anybody would like to nominate someone, then I would be happy to hear that as well. If this goes well, then maybe we could make this a regular event either quarterly or semi-annually. (But that is yet to be seen).
So let's start out determining interest level via this thread and then, if things become more serious, then we can start doing some private messaging to work out details. Until then, let's keep everything public.

On another note, I may be in/near Magdeburg in the next couple of months - as I see you are in Haldensleben. Maybe it will work out in my schedule that we can meet for a cup of coffee or something.

I like the idea guys, but I just need to say that if it has the name "Big Mike" on it then it requires my explicit approval. And I would rather not spend time setting up such a thing (due to lack of time) but also don't want to get in the way of everyone getting together.
So, please:
a) Make it informal, not "official", not my name on it
b) Do not charge any money, it absolutely must be free
c) Don't invite any vendors as sponsors
In order to accomplish the above, I would suggest thinking smaller, not renting a hotel or providing food, and just keeping it casual.
You can ask @shodson for some tips as he already runs a meetup in California.
And yes, keep it free, eschew salesmanship and keep it focused on education and fellowship with other traders. Use it as an opportunity to learn from and help other traders. It will make you a better trader.
