Thanks for starting this thread Ron.

You can count me in as we've got an 11 weeks old kitten here since last week...I'll post some pictures as soon as she decides to stay on my trading desk for more than two seconds.

Our family counts 4 cats.
This is the newest member, called Boris, +10 years old, he came from Israel to Belgium yesterday.
From 40° C to 20° he still has to adapt to the colder climate, as he was living in the Negev desert before.

Boris was a wild cat living in the Negev desert in Israel. He was living in a area around a Kibbutz fighting every day for a bit of food and a bit of territory against other cats and animals. He is a 10 year old cat, has a very loud voice and is not really afraid of other animals attacking, even dogs. In some cases dogs (much bigger than Boris) gave him a nasty bite which ended up into a nasty infection.

Last couple months were even more stressing for Boris. This particular Kibbutz is in the South of Israel. Previous months the soil was vibrating because of military action. Jets flying over, impact of rockets of Hamas, heavy overnight troup movements, sirens yelling 15 seconds before impact... etc..

As wild cats do not take part into a birth-control program, their population tends to grow fast. If they become too much of a nuisance they don't get killed, but they get captured to be release elsewhere in the desert, where they cause less of a nuisance.

Boris was lucky to get the attention of my wife. She went with him to the vet, his infections got healed. As she was staying only a few months in Israel, the question came, what about Boris ? She couldn't leave him there. A procedure was started to get him international papers to travel. Lab analysis, Formal paper work and a special ticket (yes cats need to pay their flight, although less than humans).

Boris was lucky, Boris is now in Belgium.
No bombs and no vibrating soil.
Ample food and plenty of sleeping.
Only a computer based soft voice 'CL, ... Gold, Gold... ES... Euro' when markets move
But Boris continues to sleep, markets don't stress him too much.

He was lucky and his life changed.
In the future it is likely he will be able to travel regularly back and forward between Europe and Israel.
In the meantime he will live in a traders environment and look at screens with charts...

I have a ten year old black short haired named Jack. As in "Jack -- in the box" because he loves getting in boxes.

My (ex) wife found him near a dumpster at her workplace. She looked around and found no siblings. Jack was about 4 weeks old or so when she brought him home.

Our landlord had a strict "no pets policy" so I told her we could only keep the cat long enough to nurse him to health and then she must turn him over to the pound. You can see that didn't work.

A few months later I built a house and Jack was part of the family. My ex-wife left years later, but Jack remains. Along with my three dogs...

Mike

You can see that didn't work.

Never does! You don't adopt a cat, a cat adopts you

Now the only thing Boris will have to deal with is the noise of all those Eurocrats coming out of Brussels
