Another of my hobbies was being a racing marshal at our local raceway. I marshaled at Go-Kart races as well at SuperBike races (different tracks obviously). I don't claim to be an expert at the job but they always needed extra eyes at each station and actively solicited volunteers to help out.

I am a decent photographer and when there were enough volunteers available we would spell each other off and I would take some pictures.

Perhaps some of these pictures would be interesting to people here.

Dueling into a turn

WINNER!!!!!

Go-Kart Pics

The picture below was taken as the kart entered a tight hairpin turn to the right.....note the rear tire is off the ground

The pic below is a favourite of mine...Karts in this class (rotax) can do about 80kph (shifter type can do 120kph). I took this picture at a 90th sec and panned the kart to keep it in focus....like driving on a cloud .... this was not a photo shopped pick to get the blur.

I did the marshaling for 4 years....the race tracks (both of them) have been torn down now to make way for a landfill expansion (they only rented the land for the tracks. Very short sighted move by politicians...now people wonder why street racing has increased {sigh}
