Is there a place in futures.io (formerly BMT) where Trading Platforms Integration is discussed?
Explanation: The software/hardware integration is just as important as either one, the software (eSignal, IRT/MD, etc.), or the hardware (PC, Laptop) dual chip, quad chip.
For example, this year I put into production a new PC, with an ASUS 1150 board and Intel quad CPU, and enough memory for trading. After putting it to work with NT7 (Ninja), I noticed a big lag in my DOM, something I never saw in my dual quad 2008 vintage machine). If anything I thought the new machine would be blazing fast. So far it has been a dog. Over several months of insistent exchanges with NT7 support, I found out NT7 is a single thread application. My Intel chip was making 8 threads out of the 4 CPUs it had. Translation: NT7 was "squeezed" into one of those 8 threads and the system was spending all of its time swapping core pieces of NT7 to make it run. I went into the BIOS and killed the virtual threads, reducing the chip to 4 CPUs. It still a dog with NT7, meaning the lag is still there, instead of 6 seconds, it is down to 2,3 seconds depending on how fast the market is. Running OFA in NT7 makes it worse, but I am an OFA-using trader. I get other unexplained problems that has forced me to load and reload NT7 more times than a handful.
So, going back to my original question, if there is no forum for platform integration, where do we discuss these issues?
Thanks.
