Hello --- I am a new trader. Maybe only going on a couple months now.

started off with an Options House account, slowly funded it and learned how it work. Now I switched to TDAmeritrade just to take advantage of free trades for a couple months while i get some more experience.

A couple early questions and things I'm curious about..........

1) what is the best platform / broker I should be using? (trading mainly stocks now in the under $20 range mainly)

2) Are there a lot of folks here who do this as their full time gig for income? real professional day traders?
I'd like to get into that route eventually ........ I'm very into this so far ...... but it is still all new to me and it would be a big career change.

Thanks!

Welcome pesposit;

We appear to have the same goals for trading. I'm learning that one has to have "The Right Stuff". I am new here myself and am still learning to navigate the site...lots-o-stuff here.
will alert you. Please just ask that if you find it, to let me know.

I can't answer your questions, but believe that I can welcome you here and offer helpful futures.io (formerly BMT) newbie and trading for a living advice. Mike has a thread or a post for navigating futures.io (formerly BMT) site that would be good for both of us to spend our initial time here on. I will search and if I find it

As a futures.io (formerly BMT) newbie myself, I have been logging-on (when time permits) and flipping from thread to thread. I don't advise that. There is just too much great information here.

IMHO, you couldn't have found a better place to learn. futures.io (formerly BMT) is the wealth of a knowledgeable, friendly, sincere and transparent member environment for all levels of trading in all markets and instruments.

One question I can answer for you is that there are many futures.io (formerly BMT) member's (by there own account) that trade for a living.

If you have not read it, I would suggest the classic book/audio by Dr. Alexander Elder, Trading For a Living. Google it or find the resource below.

Also, Dr. Brett Steenbarger is another psychologist and trader that is popular. For me, his books are an outstanding
reading source and on my bookshelf along with many others.
Good luck to you!
Sincerely,

trendfinder

1) I use MB Trading for their flat-fee pricing ($4.95, as many shares as you want) and trade stocks under $15, anywhere from 500 shares up to 10,000+ shares.

2) It's possible, but the bottom line is you have to come up with a strategy or multiple strategies that can actually generate profit.
