I've recently started journaling my diet to improve my health and energy levels and focus. Thought I'd start this conversation to see what others are doing and how important it is in your prep.

I used to never have to worry about diet and could knock back the pints on the weekend as I was always quite active...until I got an office job! I work in the financial field and when the markets are quiet you find yourself snacking out of boredom.

Recently I started putting on weight due to the lack of movement throughout the day, so to combat this I found the best combo is to have some fruits like apricots, dates and bananas in my drawer as well as some nuts. The combo usually satiates any cravings I get and they are healthy!

Another good tip is if you find yourself drinking fizzy drinks like coke then just have some sparkling water instead, bit more exciting than still water and of course is not bad for you either. Other than that I try to go to the gym to combat lack of movement in the day.

I eat Paleo or Mediterranean mostly. Lots of fresh food, almost no processed foods. Drink 3-4 bottles of water, juice, and tea a day as well.

Time to time I do spurge and will eat Sushi, Mexican, or Steakhouse. Again try to aim for fresh food.

Overall I believe you are what you eat so, eat the best.

I try to eat something every two hours and keep my main meals smaller.

My office drawer is loaded with nuts, flax seeds, fish oil capsules.

I also have bottles of aloe vera juice in office and start my day with 30ml of it.

I used to be stricter on my diet but have found that self-control is like a muscle so expend all of it in trading and allow myself to grab potato chips (yes, I have them too in my drawer!) - they are used as a tool - I eat them instead of overtrading. :-)

I'm learning that processed foods are not good for my energy levels at all completely agree with you on your post.

From my journal I've found that certain foods are in a very real way impacting my health, I've cut out the fizzy drinks and processed foods (mostly) and feeling a lot better for it.

I think its important to be able to enjoy yourself and have a rich mexican meal once in a while. :-)

I've read its much better to eat fresh fish than the capsules, I don't eat fish now but planning to try and add it to my diet. Currently I have a lot of legumes/nuts/beans etc very tasty and provides protein and omega oils.

Lol with you on the potato chips too mate.

I try to eat a lot of protein because I'm a big guy and it gives me the ability to concentrate for longer periods of time without feeling hungry. I like a big breakfast, no snacks, and lots of water and coffee.

My favorite thing is adding grass fed butter and coconut oil to my coffee, it's much more efficient getting energy from fats rather than carbs.

For meals I have combinations of free range eggs, organic salad/ fruit/ vegetables/ grass fed meat/ fish.

For snacks I usually eat Nuts , berries, and sometimes ill have 90% dark chocolate.

I try my best to stay clear of any processed foods, and cut right down on my sugar intake.- so I stay away from alcohol or any soft-drinks aswell.

I used to train at the gym 6 days per week, and eat a very rich protein diet to the point where I was over eating & over training. My body might of looked good, but it can't of been healthy. Over the last 18 months I've lost around 15-20kg, and got to know my body awhole lot more.

I think in general most people consume way to much food than their body needs, even those people who look to be in good shape. You'll be surprised how much better you feel when you actually start eating less, and then also the cleaner your diet becomes, the more negative effects you'll notice when you indulge in junk food. We're been dangerously mislead about what foods to eat and what foods to avoid, and it kills me to look back at the food I used to eat thinking I was being "healthy".
