Hey all,

I am new here, and would like to daytrade the emini futures market (ES). I will try to specialise in this market as it is a market with enough liquidity and volatility. I have some theoretic knowledge about futures and other derivatives, but don't have any practical experience with daytrading.

I still have some questions, and I would be really thankful if somebody could help me with that:

- I want to use the NinjaTrader platform. But which broker should I use for these futures? I want the lowest commissions, since I will probably lose enough money in the beginning.

- Is it smart to use tick charts? It seems more useful to me than just using time charts.. Is it better to use tick charts in future markets?

- I want to focus on Price Action strategy. Anybody has a good course for me on this, and is it smart to focus on this. Which indicators could I use best with this kind of strategy? I also want something to see the volume.

Thanks in advance, and looking forward to trade the markets. (at least I trade SIM for one year, don't know if it's even possible to trade this long SIM without paying for ninjatrader??)

Perhaps the most helpful reply I can give is to search the forum. See the top right of the screen and you will see a search box. As I read your post, I was thinking of how many threads on NT brokerages, tick charts, and price action I have sifted through on this forum. There is a wealth of information on this forum on those three topics and you could spend days and not get through them all. So have at it and good luck with your trading!

Well, as @josh already stated, it's always a good idea to take the time and search for these topics on nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) in the first place.

Anyway, I'd like to give you some hints regarding brokerage and price action topics.
For choosing an appropriate broker, you should have a closer look at Optimus Futures and the new Ninja Trader Brokerage as well as doing your own due dilligence by searching this section:

There are some highly recommendable threads on price action on nexusfi.com (formerly BMT), I'd suggest to go at least through this thread

as well as this thread:

Finally I highly recommend to read this thread as well:

Regarding your question about Tick charts, well, what kind of chart or bar type to use is always a matter of personal preference, so there'll be no practical advise on that from my side.

Oh, and before I forget...Welcome to nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) and good luck with your just beginning journey.

I'd definitely recommend watching Mack's videos if you want to learn the ES. He's one of the best!

Good to want to figure things out.... but if you only want to focus on price.... Jerry Simmons at Advanced Trading Workshop is your guy... trades with nothing but price... and makes plenty of money doing it. If time is important contact Back to the Future... Ron Gardner... backtothefuture.com Good luck!

Mack at PATS and Al Brooks are a lot less than the $9,000 Jerry Simmons charges to learn price action.

Math. A gateway drug to reality.
