I have some questions regarding annual and quarterly reports. Yesterday I bought some CODE stocks. The company has its annual and quarterly reports:

Summary of SPANSION INC. - Yahoo! Finance

Summary of SPANSION INC. - Yahoo! Finance

My questions are:

1- How is it possible to publish the annual report BEFORE the quarterly report?

2- How can I interpret these reports? I am not investing in long term, I am a short term/swing trader. I know that fundamentals are for long terms investments but I would like to be able to use these reports in my trading.

3- What to look for in these reports, are there any automated way (for example, highlighting specific keywords) to read the reports?

Thanks
G

The annual report is for the end of Dec 2013, the quarterly report is for end on march 2014

It's tough to use 6 month old information for short term trading.

You bought the stock, why did you buy it?

When you figure out what fundamentals you want to focus on you can use a screener to find stocks you might want to trade.

If you use fundamentals (annual reports) at all you want to find companies with stellar fundamentals, companies that investors want to buy. That way you won't have problems unloading your trades.

One thing you want to avoid is turning a trade into an investment when it goes against you because you think the fundamentals warrant it.

Before you buy:
Know why you buy a stock.
Know what you expect it to do.
Know where your exits are.
Know when you are wrong and have the discipline to get out when that happens.
