Hi Guys, I am trading futures during the US afternoon session. Mainly ES and Z.
I know that the morning session provides better entries but I live in the Uk.
So I trade the US afternoon session when I get home from work.

Lately the afternoon session hasn't given me many entries. I hear that there is a "summer" effect with the markets.
Is this true?
Do you have any suggestions regarding other markets I could look at during the time frame I am available for?

The time slot is basically the US afternoon session.

Many Thanks
Rob

Yep Summer Doldrums, slows everything down and makes for a more erratic market until September every year.

Also a lot of news out today, which slowed last night down to a crawl and 4th July big US holiday tomorrow slowing us down further.

Just got to take what you can get sadly!

Hi Rob
I'm in a similar situation. Have you found any possibilities since your post?

Fatfish, what I have found is that the US afternoon session has picked up significantly in the last 2 months and I have found more opportunities.
I think it only lasts for a month or so.
Also I have changes things in my 9-5 job so instead of going to work (uk time) for 7.30 am I go to work at 8.30 am.
I live 3 mins from my work place and that means I can trade the London open on FTSE Futures. I ususally get one entry per morning and it's been good so far.

I think you have to see when you are free and what markets are moving during this time.
