WHAT THE HECK is a CONFIG file ? What do you guys think?
Better to use File/Utilities/Backup and Restore for moving stuff between instances of NinjaTrader. Be careful though that restoring a backup on another machine can overwrite various configuration, data and ninjascript on the target computer.
If you check all the options in the Backup dialog in NinjaTrader, I believe it will essentially clone your entire NinjaTrader setup, including any chart templates and drawing tools, if they restore that backup on their system.
I think the log and trace files may contain your account info so you may not want to send those to anyone. As far as the config file, I don't know for certain. I suspect that unless they already had all indicators installed, that it would not work.

Since it's an xml file, you can just open it and take a look.
Go to the file and double-click. It should open in your browser. (If not, you can paste the file path in your browser and it will open. Something like C:\Users\bobwest\Documents\NinjaTrader 7 -- but your name, not mine lol.)
You may not be used to reading xml files, but as you scan down it you will get the idea. It's a text file that lays out data in a structured format. Xml's are often used by programs to record settings or other data it needs to refer to, which is what this is doing. You can see that it's a bunch of stuff that Ninja will need as it operates. It may also show the names of some .dll files (compiled program files) -- some are basic Windows files, others downloaded indicators where the author didn't give you the source (program code) files.
It doesn't have your drawings and charts and all that.
Here's the sort of thing you'll see:
Now, your templates are recorded as xml's in the templates folder, and workspaces in the workspaces folder, so if you send these to someone those, and if they also have the indicators installed, and have access to the trade data for the same futures contracts, then they can set up charts like yours. Not sure where or how they store drawings, possibly not in xml's... poke around and see.
Important note: don't double click on any file besides an xml, unless you're sure what it is and does. (Certainly not a .dll or .exe!!!) I hope I don't have to say why

if you want to send your setup to somebody, make sure the other has the same indicators you use on your chart then send a copy of your chart template. However no drawing will be transfer but you can right click, save image then send the image of your chart.
It is because I sent it over to the Ninja Trader guys -- and I am just wondering what they do with all the config, trace and log files we send them when we have errors.
I have had to send them quite a few over the years while I learn :O
