VoIP (specifically voip.ms) outside the US using Obihai
Is anyone using VoIP (specifically voip.ms) outside of the US?
I have questions. I am wanting to get a VoIP service that will allow me to have a Dallas number so that friends and family can dial that number for free, but the termination point will be me in Ecuador.
I have an Obihai 202 and plan to use voip.ms. I am also planning to use Zoiper on Android. I am just wondering if this is going to work out of the box, or if I will need to do some sort of proxy to make it work? Is it possible to have a call-forward no answer setup so that if Obihai 202 doesn't answer (house/office) it rings my cell?
I am looking for users of VoIP SIP/IAX2 services that have numbers from a different country terminating to their location, so I can confirm this works without hassle.
I have a friend that is using Voip.ms and he has nothing but good things to say about the service. However his number is in the same country that he is in.

Hi Mike,
I am using voip for 2 years. It will work everywhere you connect your voip device to the internet. I have not used it myself abroad, only on different locations in Belgium but i have customers who use their voip devices abroad and it works.
You will have to buy a geografical number for Dallas with a provider. Depending on the software they use the call-forward function you want is already in place. My provider in Belgium www.3starsnet.be lets me choose the time in seconds before the call-forward kicks in.
I have no experience with Zoiper on Android but any voip software should work.
