Is anyone interested in playing and posting results here? The interface is EXTREMELY crude, but hey, instead of having a hard stop, you REALLY have to exit a position. Best of all, I don't think there is any way to "game the system".... maybe edit the uploaded image, but there are ways of testing that.
I'm not interested in even knowing trade-by-trade what people do. I play this game every day and I would love to know where I stand relative to other people. I've sent the link to a few people, but nobody has yet to SHOW ME how they are doing. I've shown about 6-10 people IN PERSON how to play this, but everyone says "I HATE it!!" - not because of the interface, but due to them saying BUY and price drops 20 points and after SELL, it goes up 20 points.
So we'll see. Any takers? Anyone here want to post? Even if noobs want to post [constant] results, I have no problem with that.

Here you go, basic strategy was to analyze for 5-10 seconds and then buy or sell and then hold til up good or it seemed it wasn't gonna go my way anymore. A few times I waited for a pullback off the initial look and about a quarter of the time I reversed, but for the most part just put on one trade and then quickly clicked to the end to see how I compared. For the first 20-30 charts I only used the 3 month chart and was down a couple thousand and then I started looking at the 4 year chart and did much, much better. Considering long-term support and resistance really made a world of difference. I was trying to get to 20 years, but I am tired, so you get 17.5ish.
I agree, stops and targets would be much more realistic cuz sometimes the daily candles are huge. Next time maybe I'll plan it better, use theoretical stops and targets, put on as many trades as I can see on a chart, and try to do like 3 years and see how the average return compares.
I've played chartgame a few times before. It's been mentioned on elitetrader and futures.io (formerly BMT) sporadically for at least a couple of years.
I think it can be good practice for quickly trying out price action concepts and those new to trading. But trading for real? maybe just for big hedge fund traders.. and with no stop or take-profit intraday and unrealistic time disconnect. Maybe an improved chartgame could be like NT replay with the candle forming animation.
This is it from me. One run on the 6 month and more like scalping with daily bars. Mainly using Al Brook's BPA concepts and phases of the market on the 30 EMA with some look at daily volume. too limited indicator options otherwise.
But nobody has ever proposed competing to the death in gladiator like fashion as Acbrasil did. In my book, that makes him a genius. Although I think parameters such as best return percentage for 5 charts or something might be useful.
I concede it's a decent point about using chartgame as a gaming venue on futures.io (formerly BMT). Maybe it could also be added to the arcade section. Maybe helpful in inspiring newbies to learn price action and that it's possible to learn to make "good chartgame trades" and "beat the chartgame charts" and buy&hold then moving on to the real markets.
wow vegas, pretty impressive! I have also gotten to that level before too, but I think it was more luck, and NOT the way I really trade (trading with 100% of capital). I wish there was something more realistic out there.. anyone know of any? I was going to pay for a real simulator, but I couldn't get it to work and it looks like the owner abandoned it.
Yeah, I trade live too, but chartgame is trading-on-demand, not waiting for the market to make a move.

I'm also an educator/instructor, but nothing related to trading, or tennis.. I wish I was that good at tennis! Today, I used Chartgame in 2 seperate tests today: two classes with three people, each. I gave each person ONE opportunity to make the maximum profit possible with just ONE chart. In BOTH cases, ONE person in each class averaged around 10%, which I think is luck. Then it was my job to beat the highest performer with only one chart.
I beat them... but not without some stress. I'm the instructor, so I can never do anything to contradict what I say or be wrong. It's rare that I lose at Chartgame though. From a "trading analysis-perspective", this is really fun. One guy who made 10% says he has something consistent. We'll see on Thursday. I'm pretty much glued to my ways of trading. I have no desire to change to anything else, but it will be interesting to hear what the "next generation" has to say about price charts.
