Yes. I always use Skype without one, since I also don't have a webcam.

Of course you can use Skype with Audio only, that's no problem at all.
You don't need a webcam to establish a connection through Skype.

Just use the phone handset icon which connects you with audio only.

Option 1: You can talk through Skype via headphones that come with a microphone.
Option 2: You can also purchase a USB microphone (around $ 20) and speak into that microphone and listen to your audio speakers.

As you do not have a webcam, you can use the video channel for sharing your screen, while you are talking.

I even wasn't aware of the possibility to share a screen through Skype.
That's a very interesting and helpful feature, thanks for pointing that out.

The screen sharing via Skype uses a lot of resources. Skype is a resource hog anyhow.

A better option is to use Teamviewer or similar for screensharing, and use Skype for audio only.

But screensharing via Skype is convenient for short communications, as you do not need to set up a second connection.

Thanks, I usually have TeamViewer up to share my screen while talking through Skype using Audio only.
But as you mentioned, for the purpose of just showing a quick glance on a chart or providing a screenshot, Spreadsheet or whatever, this would be the fastest and easiest way.

TeamViewer is really great for screen sharing - especially if you want to take control of the other person's computer. but another really great free software is called join.me.

you send the other person the link that is created and they can see your screen within their web browser. I use it all of the time
