I constantly hear about the yield of the 10 Year note.

What is the importance of this instrument in the wide world of Economics ?

not sure about the economic side but on the futures side, the ten years are one of the most liquid instruments that also offer much different personality than other markets for day trading.

the size of the global credit market is ~$82TT and the size of the global equity market is ~$36TT

the credit markets, especially the repo market is like the plumbing of the financial system, it underpins the entire structure

In TU 1H, I do see a nice decreasing squared triangle on March contract.
Target is 124-22' in the case of a downard exit and 125-16' in the case of an upward one.
As prices came by below, we can expect an upward exit, the structure being of consolidation (of the upward trend).
Prices are also above weekly PP (the thick blue line).
I will buy over 125-04' to target a possible double top at 126 and will sell below 124-30' to target a test of weekly PP (124-245').

As usual, the exit may happen before the Home sales data to be released at 4pm Paris time, 10 am Eastern Time.

My understanding (used loosely) is that many other financial numbers are based on the 10 year rate.

Beyond this, large funds ($1 billion or more) supposedly have no choice but to invest in rate products due to available liquidity. I read that here Active Trader: Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain

Turkey raised interest rates and equities rallied....emerging mkts caught a bid

aside from what has been previously mentioned....mortgages in the U.S are priced off the 10 year note.

i was bullish and holding a long 124.08, when i saw the drop, i take the profit,a dn then what happen?, bomm, up $1000p contracts

what happen? for me, is shake out the trader like me...

mars, you got both, first 124.22, and later 125.16.....i was long waiting the push up, but whit the gaop down i was scared and exit and a i lose both....grrr
