Assume a trader already has a methodology they have studied that is successful for others, and has a broker, feed, platform, basic market/trading knowledge, trading experience, etc.
How does one develop the methodology to work for themselves as a unique trader, and prove their method/edge properly and each of their setups? Is there a good resource/read/webinar on details of this process? I did start to watch the recent FT71 webinar but it did not seem to be what I was looking for. I also tried to do a quick search but couldn't find this information, appreciate any help or suggestions on where to look.
Is it best done through backtesting, if so how exactly? How does that compare vs forward testing or market replay vs live sim trading?
Should these 'test' trades to develop an edge be done in a different manner than live or sim trading a proven edge would be? ie maximizing number of trades to achieve a larger dataset/more quickly, without concern for emotional/psychological effects that occur in live trading, etc?
