I realize a free data feed may not be as good as dedicated data feed. I noticed considerable data missing on the flash crash of April 23 (AP news feed hacked). I am using Sierra Charts with Transact. Usually, I am happy with Transact but was surprised on April 23.
. The NQ seems fine but ES should have dropped from 1574 to 1556 but Transact only dropped from 1574 to 1570. I would like to know if I am the only Transact user that this happened to. Other data feeds like DTN, CQG, Rithmic, Kinetic were all accurate with ES on April 23
See my attachments for ES and 1 for NQ
1. ES 1500T on April 23 for Transact
2. NQ 400T on April 23 for Transact
3. ES 2000T on April 23 for Kinetic
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
TT is ok. Have you tried deleting and downloading the data starting before that point? If it comes back then maybe something got overloaded somewhere and couldn't keep up. If still missing, then hmmmm?
Thank You.
I physically deleted my ES data file and reloaded and now data looks good. That is a relief. Now the question is where was the overload.
My trading station setup
- Transact with Sierra Charts. running 1 indicator ema21.
I have an I7 computer and I run Win7 which has a Core Temp Gadget Core Temp thar displays RAM, CPU as well as temp of each core. I am usually at 1/3 of RAM and 1-5% of CPU when day trading. I have DSL 6 mbps which apparently is very adequate for day trading. My Task manager shows less than 1% of network used. I am only one on network
U are wiser on this area, any ideas
DTN/IQ salesman would lead me to believe free data feeds can not keep up in the moment. (hence I should pay $118/month for DTN/IQ data. My friend suggest that this just causes more finger pointing in the event that I do have another data problem, especially LIVE
Transact has changed the way they deliver data and since I run Transact, CQG, OEC, Ninja -Rithmic and couple of other platforms on my 3 machines, I can tell you that transact data is now as good as any - actually better, its FREE!

TransactAt was designed for professional active traders and they have their own DATA feed as well as their own front end. It is actually one of my favorites for daytrading. If you like a demo, let me know. I am not sure if they make up for the data fees through other ways or if its simply included in the transaction fees but bottom line for the trader there is no monthly charge.
slight correction. no monthly charge if you are an active trader. they used to make a little on your account deposit, but with zero interest rates, they have to charge the clients that don't trade, but still very small charge. the only caveat I have is that they have a 10 Mbps minimum bandwidth requirement which I can not meet and thus I get some screen freezes. this may be due to my use of Sierra Charts. I hope to join a VPS soon.
With Cannon trading they offer Transaction and Sierra free as long as you do 10 r/t a month. So that comes out to about $40-$50 in commissions a month to use the platform. I personally enjoy the OEC platform.
Yes we do offer ATcharts for free if clients trade 10 contracts per month OR clients can choose not to get the charts and pay nothing and still have the data for the DOM free. If a client does not trade 10 contracts per month, the charge is $15.95
yes OEC trader is free with DATA and the built in charts. Traders can also choose to use sierra charts with OEC.
I think the main question traders need to ask themselves is:
Do they need Ninja as front end or not? If they use custom indicators that are only with Ninja or bought the lifetime license, then they should use ninja trader as front end and we can help them decide on the back end or the data. i.e. Rithmic? CQG- Continuum? Trading technologies? The answer depends on several factors like desire for certain clearing house? daytrading margins etc.
If the client is open minded to try other platforms, we do offer a few where the front end and the back end are the same source and this eliminate the need to pay an extra monthly fee for data or to lease the program. My top two are TransactAt and OEC trader.
