Years ago when I first considered trading I followed TTM. I read John Carter's book and made my charts look like theirs. Of course as time went by I realized that just following a successful trader, or supposed successful trader, won't be enough. I then came to the opinion that theses guys are more about selling stuff. I think they provide education in done areas that may be helpful, but I'm not sure. At times I felt I was being too negative, but recently HS has been offering a Climactic Volume indicator for the deal of the century price of $497. Not only has the Better Volume Indy been available for years, but there are version on futures.io (formerly BMT) for free. To me, this is more about taking advantage and profit than helping others. My 1/2 cent

I just cancelled a one month trial membership for $7 at Option Trading Strategies | Online Training | SimplerOptions.com which is also run by John Carter. I think tradethemarkets and simpleroptions are sister sites to one another. Basically some nice intro videos to using options on TOS are available with initial membership and the chat room. But overall it was just to offer more products at a "member price" like the TTM squeeze indicator (around $200+) for other platforms , special weekend webinars on "how to use TOS". and a discount on recorded DVD's which still cost over 1k after member discount. I guess when one is a member like the other 800 to 900 peak members-online shown in the chat room, as members you all get the same great members-only deals they offer up in the chat text almost daily. Then when Carter was not around which was supposed to be usually at the open and end of the market for about 30min to an hour then the other support staff Henry G and "Fibqueen" Carolyn Borodin who has her own site take over. Anyways I sim traded some of the trades and like others mentioned in the chat room (which is on 24hrs on trading days) the losers outstrip the winners like four to one which still means trading with simpler options spreads directionally is still quite dangerous as it's of course leveraged. Most of the entries were based on the TTM squeeze indicator which is free with TOS. And there are decent tutorials on using options on TOS and general spreads for the $7. But to me the TTM squeeze didn't like a really good edge especially just taken by itself with little other context. And the site has way too many affiliate links and spam ad emails which makes it seem like another common vendor affiliate ad "nexus" to me. (similar to the style of OTA and DTI). I almost went for the book. Glad I skipped on it now.

Hi guys,

Has anyone purchased any one of the DVDs from Simpler Options on option trading? I am a newbie to options and want to know if they are worth the money or not.

I generally don't like anything TTM sells because I know that neither of them can trade Futures if their life depended on it. They make their living elsewhere and most people already know. Well, those who seek more. But I've seen glimpses of Carter trading options and even though we only get to see his huge winners and none of his losers, he seems to be a bit better at options trading.

So, want to know if any of his SimplerOptions DVDs on option trading is worth anything?

Thanks

Hi, I spent some time in the trial. John Carter seems to know more about options but he's gone too much of the time with HenryG. or Carolyn Borodin (the "Fibqueen") taking over and often rushes trades off the fly in the last 15 minutes of the session and they never tell us exactly when he was going to pop in the room either. Then he was gone for no explained reason for a week, 2 weeks or so. Plus, some had complained even in the room of bad trades which wiped out everything else and too many losing positions.

I would suggest watching the Liz and Jenny show instead. They do a "know your options" middle segment of their one hour show 12pm EST daily. And are currently starting over on the instructional programming. It's the best deal out there now, and I found the discussion and value far more comprehensive than simpleroptions, cboe.com and other "teaching options" intro sites. They also discuss what really works and doesn't and even go over recent trades on how to adjust positions some details of which were new to me. And yes, the constant pitch at simpleroptions for expensive DVD recordings of a past seminar and more DVD's on how to use TOS and such turned me off too. Liz and Jenny were actually floor pit traders and career women, not housewives.

Thanks Cloudy. Appreciate the feedback.

Yes, I figured his DVDs are a waste of money because the info is freely available on the net these days. Carter thinks he's a saint and is doing people a great favor by sharing his knowledge. Little does he know that his wisdom is not worth a penny!

They are both just full of themselves and full of B.S.

Cheers

Your welcome TomC. In fact on the Liz and Jenny show, the last 6 days are teaching the basics from the beginning since May 22nd. ( https://tastytrade.com/tt/shows/LJ ) And they are free to watch. Each show is worth any of those $197 (always "reduced special" from $297, $497 or something ) special DVD intros that they keep trying to sell at simpleroptions imo.

I was a member of the Trade The Markets trading room for nearly 7 months. Those of you that may have visited the room in the past a great deal has changed. First, they don't attempt to sell any indicators. Second, the trades they do put on are very small and infrequent. Third, Neal Yeager leads the morning session and Pat comes on in the afternoon. They have very different trading styles. Neal attempts to pick levels based on his knowledge of market rotations and traditional pivot levels. Neal will all make a few trades a day and will trade 1-3 contracts. The fact is there is no way he is making a living on his trades. He spends most of the morning providing commentary.

Pat comes in the afternoon. He uses various moving averages, Fibonacci levels, and regression channels. He indicated he has years of experience trading the grains. However, I have not been impressed with his trades. His wins have been less than 50% and the wins have been very small. Pat refuses to trade on Fridays.

There are no P&L records.

I estimate that Carter pulls in $20k-$30k per month on membership fees. He made $1,000,000 recently on a training series.

John Carter has never attended the room but he uses his name to promote it.

I found the room by reading Carter's book, "Trade The Markets."

Bottom Line:

This could be a starting point for a beginning trader to learn some general trading principles ( I did learn a lot). I would say this is more of an educational site than a trading room. I believer Carter is concerned about the legal ramifications of calling out trades. Whatever you do, don't buy any of Carter's indicators or training DVD's, They are simply not worth the price. The nightly commentary is a joke--You can get better market overviews for free over the web.

I am on the fence concerning TTM. On one had, both Neal and Pat seem to be very sincere and will answer any question you have. On the other had, I just don't see how anyone can be successful following their methods.

A one month trial is only $7. I would say it is worth that.
