If I missed a hardware thread here let me know and I'll move the post.
I recently reached a point of clarity in trading where I realized my hardware platform and Internet connection was downright dangerous, so its UPGRADE time. Just took delivery of Workstation 1:
Dell Precision T3500 with Xeon W3520 processor
4 Gigs RAM
Win XP Pro
2x 160G HDD
2x Nvidia NVS295 monitor cards (four up to four monitors)
3x Phillips 19" WS LCD monitors
I've added a second broadband connection to the office, and the next purchase is a dual WAN router and a UPS for it all. Should all be ready to go in 2-3 weeks.
In the back of my mind (and pending the cash!) is Workstation 2 for charting, backtesting, news, and email... keeping Workstation 1 as an "execution only" box.
What hardware "makes a difference" in your office? Any suggestions or ideas to help me get this hardware thing right the first time 'round?
Thanks.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
for "execution only", I think any $1000 laptop should do - only install NT, no Antivirus, check email, chat room etc.
for backtesting, that's diff. story.
a other solution is take hardware and a windows xp version you will rip down. i mean close all services you do not need ...
it gives some windows xp application on the net or how you can make this ...
