I've always loved this damn game. The new version that just came out is the worst rated product ever on Amazon, with something like 4,000 1-star ratings. But that is because of the stupid DRM anti-piracy protection and EA's complete inability to keep up with demand, making the game unplayable for everyone that bought it.
I think they will get that worked out soon enough so I am more interested in the actual gameplay. I will probably buy my copy sometime soon. My biggest concern here is that I will end up spending hours and hours playing this game, instead of getting work done on the site
It's out!? wow I love that game franchise too. I've never played the Sims, I'd prefer a macro look like the old Simcity4. But I wouldn't mind being able to zoom in and walk around the skyscrapers.
Ugh, I just read some of those reviews. Looks like required MMO type connection and such to play. From a review on Amazon:
"The second day was a completely different story, I couldn't play because the servers were down, and then its when I realized my mistake, I will never be able to play this game without an internet connection, and other questions came up; what if they decide not to support this game anymore? what if I want to play on a trip?, what if EA closes its doors?!!!! etc... Instead, of having a button that says BUY the should rename it to RENT!
On the other hand, there are a couple of features that I miss from previous versions of SIMCITY, like no farms, no subway, no control over regional transport and the most important one NO TERRAFORMING, and then to top it all off you can't save your games on your hard drive, you are 100% dependant on the servers. If this doesn't make you want to stay away from this game, it also restricts your city to a 2km by 2km area and you soon run out of space, specially if your terrain has a big mountain (remember no terraforming!).
I'm very disappointed, I really thought this game was going to be a major improvement but its completely the opposite. It feels like those big budget movies with tons of eye candy but no story! Play simcity 4 for a much better gaming experience!"
I think I'll just wait until EA sorts this out, or just skip it entirely. Doesn't sound like a free flowing "relaxing" sim game to me with these hangups. Plus an "optional" German style add-on.
Simulate a multi-million dollar yacht in Flight Simulator X! ( & can travel anywhere in the "world". )

I thought this could be a fun idea. A chat room for traders except it's more like a 3D game hangout area. Kind of like those multiplayer casino games. Where there are multiple rooms/booths connected by central areas. Each room could be hosted by a "live trader" or such.
OK well I've spent a few hours already on this damn thing.
That was until my nuclear plant took a direct hit from a tornado, and melted down, taking everything with it in a 2km radius.
LOL.
The nice thing is I can run SimCity in windowed mode, so can still have my email, charts, web browser and etc up at the same time.... or maybe that is not a good thing
Kidding aside, it's a fun game. I made it to about 150k population on this city before the melt down. I learned a lot, so will see how far I can get next time. I was turning about 300k a day in profit at the end between all my event centers and tourist attractions along with the casinos I had just started building my new big themed casino when the tornado struck
And worse, I was probably only a few turns away from the "Great Solar" research being done, and I could claim the nearby great place (whatever it's called) to build my great solar farm.... and discontinue the reactor! LOL.
