I am new to trading CL. I have traded ES for many years. Generally speaking what times of the day does the CL see more volitility, volume and action. When I traded ES I traded 8.30 to 11 am Central time and then the last hour 2 pm to 3 pm and found those to give me the best set ups. Just curious about CL. gAVIN

Gavin, it depends on your trading style. I scalp CL with price & MACD patterns. I start trading well in premarket before 8am EST, and all the way to 2pm EST with some breaks. I avoid trading pit close after 2pm, also being cautious right at pit open as well as NYSE open and London close. Volume is typically ok by 8am EST, but very good latest at pit open at 9am EST. I like the most timeslots at 8:30-9am, 10:30-11 and 11:30-12 EST.
