I'd like to know if there's a way to have always the headset connected to the PC but at the same time continue to have sound in the speakers.
It's a pain having to connect and disconnect the headset from the front audio connection every time I want to speak to someone, especially when the front audio connection have some kind of problem since every time I connect the mic I lose the sound. I need to connect and disconnect multiple times the mic till things comeback to normal.

I can see three ways of achieving this:
1. you only connect a microphone and always and only have sound output via the speakers.
2. you use a Y connector like Amazon.com Y Splitter and always have sound output on both.
3. you make a button that switches between the headphones and speakers (requires some soldering)

1- this option is not going to be considered.
2 - good idea, I actually have one here. But wouldn't this option take use of the volume speakers? If I want to talk to someone and lower the speakers volume I'll also lower the headset volume. Need to test this.
3 - The switch is also a good idea.

Thanks.

PERFECT!

The Y connector does the job.

Many thanks @vvhg
