Hello people,

I'm looking for a simple volume spike indicator that i can use to alert me when the volume of any stocks i have in my monitor list (over 100 UK small cap & AIM stocks) go's over the 50 day ema volume moving average. I would also like to use it for scanning complete markets. (daily volume not intraday)

eg, whenever any of the stocks on my monitor list go's over the 50 day volume ema, (hopefully by whatever i set it,30%, 50% or more above the ema, but thats not really important). Or if i cant have that, then a simple set percentage increase of volume on yesterdays volume with alert is fine.

Prorealtime has this and also an above moving average feature but i'd like to be able to have 1 monitor list with hundreds of stocks and an audible alert if possible. If theres no web based alerts for this and i need a data feed ,i'd like to use the free delayed data feed from yahoo as instant timing is not important to me. 20 minutes delayed is perfect.

Something simple like quotetracker, but hooked up to a yahoo feed is what i'm thinking, but if NT or such like has the above i'd go for that, BUT the less hard drive hogging the software the better. (I've never used NT but impressed of what ive seen of the Market Analyser)

Thanks for any help !!

''For what platform?

Mike''

--------------------------------

Mike,

I've been using Prorealtime EOD for awile now (caveman?) and to be honest i really like it particularly for its screener and i think its maybe not a PC hog being web based.

The thing i dont like about it is its Java based and i actually got a Java exp virus the other day from somewhere (now removed) and it made me uninstall java in the end, but i've since realised that Proreal is probably right for what i need as i dont day trade and only really need the screener and A volume alert set up, but i want to explore the other big platforms as i've never used them.

So at the moment i'm thinking giving NT ago with a Yahoo EOD data feed or sticking with my trusty Proreal whilst using Sandboxie to keep the Java nasties under control. Anybody ever gotten a virus via NT ? (NOT SAYING PROREAL IS THE PROBLEM)

The screening/charts can be EOD but obviously i need the volume alerts fairly live. Gawd knows why ADVFN doesnt have an average volume number in its monitor list when yahoo finance portfolio has it.

ADVFN does have a buy/sell volume indicator in its monitor list though which i believe records whether the buys were made in relation to the bid/ask. How useful do you think that is as an indicator when put with any % price increase in a stock??

Cheers
