You need to provide some more info in order for anyone to help you.

Start with a screenshot of the indicator parameters and your chart, along with any error messages in the Log tab.

@stratiG

I think I know what you mean.

there're 2 choices I can offer.

you can use the volume indicator and plot the sma indicator on top. like this:

or you can download this indicator I made:

There is another way without needing to add another indicator and is one of the coolest features of NT

1.) I assume you have volume already plotted on your chart and if you only have the volume sub-panel it will be numbered panel 2 (look closely at the volume dialog, the area where you can change it's bar colors)

2.) Next , add the aready present SMA indicator to your chart, but display it in panel 2, not in the default "Same as input series" (just click on those words a down arrow appears on far right hand side and you can select panel 2)

3.) IMPORTANT part - in the SMA indicator dialog, click on the "input series" parameter and a button will appear (far right hand side) that has three dots in it ... click on this button and you will be able to select what ever data input series you want. By default it is Close. But notice you can expand the Indicator listing by clicking on the + to allow you to select any thing such as Volume as the input series.

And yes this is is recursive - you can be repeat this procedures on itself - for example you can get the average of the average of a value.

This is a very powerful feature of NT

@tulanch,

that's exactly what I showed in my first pic in post #4. but thanks anyway for the detailed explanation.

Did not mean anything by posting what I did, but it is such a power feature of NT. You can create some very interesting combinations once you know how to use it and it does not involve any programing or additional indicators.
