Hi

I am currently in the process of wanting to move from trading stocks and spreadbetting to the world of forex trading.

Having attempted to research as much as possible I have narrowed my search down to using ninjatrader with Kinetick and hawkeye traders.

However, I am struggling to decide which broker to use (ECN preferred). Any advice/experience with systems above by broker would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

JB

Kinetick is not for spot forex. It is futures and equities only. You could trade currency futures, but it isn't spot fx. So first step is to decide if you want to trade futures, or spot forex.

You can also get a FX price feed through Kinetick if you pay something like 20 $/month ... I use it myself. The problem is finding a FX broker who supports NinjaTrader.

FXCM does, they've been in beta for practically a year now, it was just formally released recently.

I have looked at FXCM and Forex.com but I find both much too expensive. That is why I pay the extra for the Kinetick FX feed so I can continue to do my charting in NinjaTrader ... I haven't decided on a broker yet but have received some good offers from Vankar and London Capital Group.

OK, but when you say ECN you imply Forex, and Kinetick is futures, not forex. Just making sure you know that.

Hi,
I use MBTrading with Ninja for my data feed (charting) and MT4 for trade execution.
I have used it only for two weeks.
The only problem I have found is when Ninja losses connection with MBTrading, half the time Ninja locks up and needs CTRL ALT DEL and a new restart.

Since each dealer will quote the spot price in OTC markets, I would think the user would want to use the actual broker's quotes and not using an external feed. You want to be seeing what you're trading in this case, whereas in an exchange environment it might be okay. I don't see a reason for Kinetick here unless you need backfill.

That being said, years ago I traded spot currencies with MB Trading. I did not use through NT but I was always happy with what I had at the time, though it seems like ages ago.
