I am having problems with slow start/slow loading/choppy video when watching the futures.io (formerly BMT) webinars.
When I start a webinar it usually starts fine. But if I try to skip a few minutes (to get to the part I'm interested in) it will usually take 20-30sec. to start the video again. Sometimes it will not start again at all. What is worse, is that the video playback seems to skip frames, because when the webinar holder tries to show a chart or similar, and uses the mousepointer to show something, this is often missed. Unfortunately this takes away a lot of the webinar experience for me. :-(
Does anyone else have this problem?
I suspect there might be a bandwidth bottleneck with the videos during futures.io (formerly BMT) peak hours, since I usually only experience this on evenings (=EST afternoon). I'm located in Stockholm, Sweden with an 20mbit ADSL, and have no problem whatsoever with bandwith anywhere else. Stockholm is a european internet hub.
Are the videos hosted on BigMikes servers, or is there another way of viewing them?
Any help appreciated.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
It is not a bandwidth problem on our server. We have a Gigabit connection (can sustain 100MB/sec -- as in 100 megabytes per second, not megabits) in thruput on our server, which we get no where near in normal traffic.
There might be a problem in the route and peers between us and you however.
Some of the webinars are on our YouTube channel. Click the YouTube button top of any futures.io (formerly BMT) page.
It is on my 'list' to re-do all the webinars for HTML5 video, but this is a monumental undertaking, so it is going to take some time. For now, you can try viewing from a different PC or location, and try a different browser such as Chrome and disable all third party add-ons.
If you are a technical person and can help me by trying out various HTML5 video options I am testing for our webinars, please send me a private message. I'm looking mainly for geeks so I can ask technical questions and get answers
