Since I've begun to see alot of new threads with beta NT7 info, I thought I'd ask if anyone who has Strategy Programming Experience would recommend beginning the process of coding their NT6.5 strats into NT7? I'm aware that some of the internal processing rules will be changed / minimized so that things that kick out "imperfect" strat orders in 6.5 won't necessarily have the same problems in v7.
The ultimate question? When should programming of strats into v7 begin? Now? or 3-6 months from now when various bugs / beta situations are solved?
I'm using NT7 Beta 6 with my "old" NT6.5 strategy. I used it for backtesting because it is really faster (I used 1 tick period for my testing) and it crashs less with a lot of amount of data.
But I not recommended to use it in live because NT7 is not stable (ex: multi-instruments chart have strange result, bad displayed, coredump,...). At least, wait several others beta !
In my case the strategy programming is new to me anyway and I decided to learn it by analyzing the existing strategy samples (written for NT6.5).
As some of them don't work correctly under NT7 it forced me to convert them and as a result learn it better.
I definitely wouldn't recommend going live with any of the strategies under NT7 (yet). There are still many bugs - like the fact that Market Replay account doesn't process IOrders in real-time (it processes them for historical data though). This bug should be fixed with the next beta (that's what I've been told) but it shows how much more needs to be done to have confidence in NT7.
I don't plan to go live with my strategy within next few months anyway so I am happy learning NinjaScript while developing/converting strategies and indicators to make them work for me.
Can someone tell me the best way to go about learning C# so that I can start programming some of my own ideas? I do have some background in programming but mainly in markup languages like Coldfusion and stuff. I have also programmed in Javascript a bit but this was a little while ago.
I was thinking of taking up one of AppDev's courses. Has anyone heard anything about them here? I have read some decent reviews online. I don't mind reading a book but I'm more of a webinar/seminar/classroom kind of a student.
Then started with the wizard for a couple weeks playing with graphics and minor changes, and then unlocking them to force me to use the custom writing methods.
I'm a beginner too, but I can recommend good stuf: for C#: C# in 21 Days_2004
for strategy and indicators:ninjatrader-support2.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=37
there are some tutorial script.
