First post here; not really a programmer. But I was a UNIX admin, so I have some scripting experience. Mostly bash, ksh, and modifying other peoples perl scripts. I hope that is enough to post.
Fairly new to trading and ninjatrader.
What I want to do:

1. Add Elder Impluse system to ninja trader. This is a simple system using a 13 day ema and the macd histogram.
Basically if the ema is trending upward and the histogram is positive ( or ema is trending downward and ema is negative) you want the area behind the candles to turn green. This is a buy or sell signal depending on which.

2. I would like ninjatrader to both email me and sound and alarm on my system when certain indicators indicate certain things. For example: if the stochastic moves above 20 ( generally a buy signal) I would like an email and beep. If the MACD crosses above or below the signal line I would like to be notified. If the elder impulse system described in 1 says it is time for buying or selling I would like to be notified.

I would like to be able to take advantage of the 24 hour nature of the ES market. But I realize that I can't be in front of the computer 24 hours a day. And I am not confident enough of my "systems" to just trade on auto pilot.

Are these things difficult to do? Can you point me in the right direction. Perhaps other scripts that are similar. Or just some good ninja script reference material. Or if easier and not to expensive, could I have this coded for me. Thank you all for any advice and suggestion

It is not difficult. That's where I started some years ago.

I liked Elder's books to learn some basics in trading. But I do not think that it is the direct way to be profitable. Find it out yourself.

The Impulse system is a good start to learn about some things in programming.
Go to the NinjaTrader support forum. There is an Elder Impulse System in the indicator section. (I did not check it).

Hello,
All items in your wish list are simple to do. Please see the Ninja help guide, under language alphabetical reference section. There is a one line command for both email and sound alerts. Other examples also include basic crossover codes.
Good luck!
