What is your current and ideal daily driver vehicle?
I'm definitely a car/motorcycle guy and I currently own a Yamaha FZ6, an Audi A4 daily driver (though its getting up there in mileage), a Nissan Pathfinder (with over 200k miles, needs work), and a 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 (needs work).
I bought the Audi mostly because I had a 30+ minute commute and gas prices then were well over $4/gallon and the 200k mile Pathfinder only got ~17mpg. The plan is to sell these and some other assets to help fund my trading account. But I'll still need a vehicle to get around so I've been doing some research. Ideally I like to buy my cars outright without a monthly payment, but my priority is to purchase some family owned property.
I know BigMike owns a 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4. In the 70s and 80s my immediate and extended family owned Jeeps. Driving an old Jeep Commando on the farm was how I learned to drive. So needless to say they have a soft spot in my heart.
At this point I don't plan on having any long commutes, but I would like to take many road trips around my state and may even consider renting a vehicle for that purpose if need be. I'd love to own a used 2003+ Porsche 911 (996) some day, they actually rank really well in reliability and can be found in the mid 30s with reasonable mileage. But I'm leaning toward considering a Jeep Liberty (Commander else where) or other Jeep model at some point in the future and just curious if others wish to give their opinion. The large retractable top of the Liberty or Wrangler is really attractive.
I usually like to keep vehicles for 10+ years or 170+k miles. In the end I may consider what is the best way to manage my funds over satisfying my desire for a comfortable daily driver. In other words, driving a beater daily to use my money in other ways and renting a decent vehicle only when necessary.
What are your opinions or suggestions?

Smart Roadster Coupe - just wish the machine had a DSG and 100 horse powers more. It s a money hole, though
Considering an Alfa 4c next year - 300 horse powers with 900kg weight should make a nifty car, but it needs to fit 2 golf carts now - the roadster does not (need to put stuff on the passenger seat)
