Hi,

I currently use NinjaTrader with Zen-Fire (Mirus Futures). I'm a full-time day trader. I primarily use technical analysis for my trading decision but nothing very complicated (support & resistance). I'm not a scalper and I don't use the DOM to place my orders. I'm trying to catch as much as possible of the intraday swings. I'm not chasing a couple of ticks 50 times a day. I usually place 1 or 2 orders per instrument per day.
I'm in the process of opening an account with Advantage Futures but I still can't decide whether to choose CQG Integrated Client or X_Trader Pro. I've decided to change my broker and my trading platform because I'm now trading bigger lots (between 100 and 200 contracts per trade for ES) and I had a lot of problems with the execution of my trades with NinjaTrader and Zen-Fire recently. I want to move to something more "professional".
I tried to find as much informations as possible about these 2 platforms but I couldn't find what I was looking for. So I'm here because I would like you (members of futures.io (formerly BMT)) to share your experiences with these 2 platforms. I would like to know the pros and the cons of these platforms and your opinion on which platform is best suit for me.

Thanks.

If you're trading 100+ contracts, you definitely want to use a more professional OE platform/environment than NT. That platform's OE seems to cater to the smaller retail trader which is good in it's own respect. If you're more concerned with the charting vs. analyzing the DoM, CQG IC is the way to go. It offers everything with regards to order type and execution that X_Trader offers with the addition of expanded charting capabilities vs. X_Trader's being pretty basic. It's a no brainer in my opinion if your concern is with regards to charting. And if you're really interested in charting over everything else, try Market Delta/IRT or Sierra Chart and use either CQG or X_Trader as an OE platform/environment. That's my preference.

I have used both and am currently using TT. I think with some people it comes down to cost. If you are trading 100-200 lots at a clip then cost probably isn't an issue. (TT pro is probably about twice the cost, unless you are using CQG without the charting software, then CQG is even cheaper as they charge per trade with a cap at $500 a month).

I like TT much better. While I never had slowdown issues with CQG, it seems that TT is faster. Moving orders, changing size on current orders in the book, and getting around the DOM in my opinion is much easier on TT. Plus with TT they have some great plug ins and a lot more flexibility with order types. One thing I also like is that after getting multiple fills, TT shows you your average price. From what I remember, CQG didn't.

I think at the end of the day if spending and extra 1000 a month or so isn't an issue, it's a no brainer....go with TT.
