In 1999 I was fed up with my job, burned out, and looking for something else to do in life. The dot com boom was in full swing, so I quit my job, took my 401k and opened a trading account. This all looked good on paper and for about 4 months i made a killing. the market was going straight up and I had a big smile on my face. As the market started to turn and my lack of education in the markets started to show, I started to take on more and more risk. This was the end, looking back. I went from 60 to 0 in a matter of months and lost it all, plus. It was back to work for me. Then in 2007, I found myself in a similar position, but different. I had been there, broke and depressed. This time I started an account and put all my extra money in it to slowly build back up a trading account while working full time. Over the past 4 years, I have been slowly adding and investing in only a few equities. Every night I open my software, read, surf sites like this, and try to learn something new about trading the markets while still working full time. Starting a trading venture has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. As is said here, "simple" yes, "easy" no. Thanks, Big Mike and all the other contributors for what you have done here!
