Anand review: AnandTech - The Google Nexus 7 Review

I already have an Asus Transformer Prime, with keyboard dock, or I would get one of these guys. But I am glad to finally see some serious competition to iPad and someone finally bringing down prices.

This tablet is built by Asus, and the quality is there. They sacrificed on a few features, but 90% of people won't miss them - and it is worth it to get the price point down, IMO.

And the "Google Now" voice thing is cool, we finally get a better-than-Siri version for Android:

I almost bought an iPAD a couple of months ago but then I started to think... why do I need this? I'm always at home where I have 1 laptop and 2 desktops. If I need to go out I take I Ericsson android phone that allow me to have access to the internet anywhere.
Why do I need a tablet? Then I remember it would be useful for when I'm in bed, to read news, emails, it's a lot easier then using my phone, but then again, i'm in bed 7 hours a day and it's only for sleeping, nothing else... well... moving on...

Then I thought, it would be cool to have one during those day I'm on vacation or visiting relatives, I would have access to my emails and stuff, but then again, vacation I'll take when I'm dead and relatives I tend to stay away as far as possible.

Also, when I thought it would be nice to read news and books I immediately remember that I can't stand being too much time reading text on a white background, that's why I bought a Kindle in the first place.

So in the end I gave up, I have no use for a tablet, but I confess, from time to time that urge comes and these smaller ones, 7" are really tempting.
Unfortunately the Nexus 7 are not yet available in most European countries. We'll need to wait a bit more.

Apparently Apple will present the iPad mini in September. That will be very interesting to see.

If I become half a percent smarter each year, I'll be a genius by the time I die

I have the Google Nexus 7 and it is great. For the record I have owned ipads, xoom, and two different samsung 7 inchers. For the price this can't be beat. The quality is good the screen text is crisp with no visible pixelation ( I hate any pixelation) Not retina but close enough. It is very fast with google nailing it with the Jellybean OS.

As a side note for me 7 inch is perfect form factor. The 10 inch tablets tend to be to heavy. Tablets tend to be a consumption device and 7 inch is perfect for consumption weather reading or video.

and did I say price is really right...

Took years of pain and busting a few accounts before finally got my mind right. I survived the darkness within and now just chillax and let my black box do the work."
