I mentioned this elsewhere on the forum, but it is my intention to return to NinjaTrader as my primary platform for automated strategy development. I have been losing interest in MultiCharts in recent months after some decisions they've made, and a breakdown in communication between MultiCharts and myself. I am trying to look to the future, and years ago I saw the future was with MultiCharts. Now, years later, I am looking again and think the tides are shifting and I am going to come back to NinjaTrader.
With NT8 coming I decided it was a good time to set aside my past differences with NT (mostly with NT 6.5, which was really the last version I used in production trading) and start porting some of my ideas over to NT7. I have very little free time these days, spending most of it on the forum... so I figure it will take me quite some time to port even basic ideas to NT7.
Ray has always been very supportive of me, even when I told him exactly how I felt about NT in the not-so-kindest words. We've talked a lot over the last few years, and I am genuinely excited about NT8 and hope that Ray has listened to me (and others) with some of our criticism and some of our requests, and with luck they will make it into NT8. Don't read too much into that, it's not like Ray has shared top secret info with me, but I do pick up on a few things here and there :)
Anyway, the purpose of the thread is just to share this "journey". It's been over 2 years, close to 3 I think, since I was actively using NinjaTrader or programming in C#. So I need to kind of re-learn the basics.
I won't lie, I also am creating this thread because I will likely be asking for help from many of you guys who have become fantastic programmers over the years.
More to come later. I haven't even downloaded and installed NT yet, so that will be step 1... it may be a few days before I get back to this, as I told myself I was going to take some "time off"...
