Hi All

Im evaluating Multicharts and now am trying to connect a CQG demo connection to it. I already had Multicharts 64 installed before installing CQG API.

Its not connecting properly.
This is what I did

1. Installed the CQG API
2. Opened Quote Manager and configured the CQG Data Source with my Demo Username and Password
3. Added a couple of symbols
4. Tried to connect the symbol by right clicking and clicking 'Connect Symbol'

I get these error messages in Quote Manager:

I cant load charts either of course

PS Im using Parrallels on an iMac and Windows 7 but I have never had any issues with any windows software before

You need MC8. You may need to uninstall MC then reinstall. The directions say you must install the CQG software first.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes I saw you need to install the CQG API first then MC. Its probably the problem but how does this cater for MC users who have already been using it for a while? I dont really want to uninstall MC then reinstall the CQG API THEN install MC again but maybe there is no alternative?

Any CQG users who had MC8 installed first then installed the CQG API?

Steve
I've always installed the new multicharts on top of the prior version. It does an upgrade of the existing version leaving all databases intact.

Neil.

Thanks NW

They have an MC update now.

I installed MC DT from the AMP /CQG site (as per instructions on the AMP website). Still can access symbols, but no ata in charts.

I sent an email to AMP support last night AND MC today. I might have to get back to them.

Nelson Bay was nice on the Weekend. Hope your having a good time in Newy.

I think CQG is 32Bit only

"Yeah, well, you know, that's your opinion, man..."

Well I finally got it working, mostly.

I emailed Kemp at Multicharts and it appears its not as straight forward as it should be.

It does work with MC64 and MC DT (from AMP /CQG).

I followed all the instructions here: MultiCharts: Trading Software for Automated Trading and [AUTOLINK]Backtesting[/AUTOLINK] • View topic - [AUTOLINK]CQG[/AUTOLINK] Connection Instructions

But it didnt help. In my case it may have been a firewall blocking proper connection. So I let MC and Quote Manager full access through the firewall and it then enabled me to connect and display a few charts.

Theres also this MC Forum page which may help. Im not sure if you need to be a paid MC user (non evaluation copy) to access: MultiCharts: Trading Software for Automated Trading and [AUTOLINK]Backtesting[/AUTOLINK] • View topic - [AUTOLINK]CQG[/AUTOLINK] Connection

I cant get some SPI contracts and others to load data in charts but that may be a CQG / AMP issue. NW was detailing some issues on the above link, so I think I may have to investigate further.

Thanks for all the help

Cheers

Stephen
