Hello,

This is my first post here, so please be kind!

I recently started trading futures, and am taking a class, from Larry Levin at Trading Advantage.

The broker they refer students to is Kingsview Financial, and the platform they use is TA Trader by BlueWater Trading Solutions. The only information I could find on this platform is that it's a spin off of Trade Maven.

I believe Kingsview Financial has the exclusive rights to this platform.

I do not want to be a grumpy gus, but am having platforms issues on a regular basis, with the software re-configuring it's self, and charts freezing, and not being "right".

The monthly charge for the software is $140, which in it's self seems high compared to what I am seeing.

Documentation is sparse, if not almost non existent.

Also the Kingsview brokerage fees are high at 8.58 a RT on the ES all in.

I really feel "taken", but I needed a kick in the butt, to wake up anyway. I feel like new students are kind of getting a raw deal.

Kingsview has lowered my all in cost to 5 RT ES, with 900 margins, they said they could not go lower as they were the only ones with this software.

Still too high.

I spent 2 hours listening to the Investor R/T seminar Big Mike had, and found it very useful.

Anyone use this TA Trader platform, broker, school, and what are your thoughts.

I am now looking at different platforms for MP, and Market Delta info.

Give me real answers please, I understand, I am probably not in the best spot, and want to correct that.

Hoping to make this site my new home.

Ed

Well, I dont know for sure, but 8.58 RT and 140 a month is pretty steep, to say the least. If the software isnt doing light house keeping, I think you are getting hosed. (Canadian speak for getting gouged)

There are lots of brokers that are way less than that...less depending on number of trades, but no more than that.

Check here under brokers, and there are lots of ones that are reccomended.

hi ED
I've been in the TA program for two years. I think what Patrick teaches is valid. and what Dan teaches is OK too. I once talked with the Kings view people and did not like them or their deal. I have learned to mostly replicate the software using ninja trader and the wonderful indicators I have as a Big Mikes elite member. are you semi-clever with computer software? try it your self. If you want their exact deal. Pay up. when you go live you can use their charts and another broker to do the trading.

I already am live.

I think the training is valid also, expensive compared to most others, but valid.

Patrick and Dan go out of their way to teach their methods.

The software is just not good at all, and the brokerage fees are ridiculous.

I am looking at iRT, and NT.

It's a choice I think between

Interactive Brokers (I can trade anything in one account)
Mirus - seems like a good place
Velocity,
Infinity

Which indicators did you use.

My Paypal account is locked until I can prove I am me, (what a pain), as I already tried to become a Big Mikes member. Hopefully tomorrow.

hi Ed
some times I stack a few indicators to give me what i want. For the delta use the gomi volume ladder you can put a anavwap on it if you want the delta is more of a sliding scail not a three level thing, but the info is the same.Gom Delta vol on pricepanelwichAlerts can be used for some audio heads up. For the mp chart I stack i_marketProfile2 for TPO on top of 2 ALTOGomMP, one long term 1 daily. for the algo you can pic from several donchian channels. several supper trends like anaSupertrend or tsSupertrend or tsipeASCtren2 I have added a donchian mean to the tsSupertrend; their is a lot of different MACD for you to choose from.
You will have to figuer out your own tunnings it may not be the same but you can get real close and sometimes better, I use a volume chart for my algo because I like it. subtract and add to suit your needs.

Ed,

Based on the reference to TA Trader, I wonder if you are Ed H on the ES Mini and the Mac user who I exchanged comments with. If so, thanks for the help.

I'm Rex K (in the TA chat room) and just started last week getting into that trading room. Dan appears to be pretty good. I'm reading the manuals as fast as I can and have completed four video lessons over this weekend. I'm learning a lot from the manuals - will never look at charts the same again!

As I run on a Mac, I have to get tons of SW to run TA Trader. Got Parallel and Windows in and installed yesterday and it probably will be the end of this week before I get my account setup with Kingsview.

Based on your comments and others here, I may just start w/Kingsview and then switch. I also picked up early in the week that users were having trouble with the TA Trader system (even Patrick spoke to that), so I'm on the lookout for another candidate. Their Volume (delta) chart looks very good - wonder if it or a replacement is available on competing systems. I have looked briefly at NT. In addition, I just got a note through this forum that Investor/RT runs native on the Mac. However, I've not looked at the features yet. Even it looks expensive - $129 w/ base plus profiling sw. It also appears that one needs a data source and that looks to be > $50.

It appears that we may have a lot to gain through this forum about futures trading.
Best

I know this thread has been dead a while, but thought i would comment....I too was a student, really the only thing I found to be proprietary was the algo stop. Other companies do a delta, but I think the cost is more. I couldn't make a go using either, so finally pulled my money from kingsview. Only think I miss is the nice MP charts, but even they seemed limited on what markets they would bring up.
I know it sucks paying for the education, then you need to deposit 5k to open acct to get software. I haggled, and put in 2500 of which they took 60/month for the software. Never made it live tho so your experiences and needs may be different.

Things still working for you Ed using there method?

Thanks for the note. I consider myself still in the learning mode. I've been with TA for almost five months. I ran on another simulator for a couple, then went with Kingsview and TA Trader sw. This is all a new venue for me although I have traded equities and options for about 50 years.

It has taken me about two months to begin to understand the Delta/Volume chart. I like the teaching although the personalities take a bit of getting use to-I'm a retired univ. prof. Because of my background in trading, I'm have to re-learn for the futures markets. I went live for a while after two months on the other simulator and a brief period on TA Trader. That was too soon and I paid through the losses I had. Now on sim, I maintain a trading log and review each day. I also do some replay with a log and review my trades there. I'm beginning to have a hit rate of over 50%, but take too many trades in the day. I'm also working on my stop management skill to increase my gain/trade amount.

With regard to costs, I have seen there is a range, but I've been pleased with Kingsview with the exception of their software support-but then, I'm a retired techie and I'm fussy about that. I believe that when I get my experience level where I want it on sim, I will do well trading one or two contracts at a time and seek $200/ day as my goal. I hope to be able to raise that in time.

It is clear to me that I cannot expect to step into this arena and overnight gain a winning skill level. It takes hard work, patience, and practice, practice, practice.

Hope this responds to your questions.

I am currently using TA Trader and have build strategies and and automated trading system. I want to try out a different platform as TA Trader is expensive in commissions and monthly costs. I am wondering if there is any platfrom available that I could just bring my chart layouts and automated strategies directly from TA Trader and upload them into the new platform. I am looking for a platform that is free to sim trade with the auto replay playback.

Thanks,

Haden
