Is there any real value to analyzing bid vs. offer, delta, and the like? No one ever truly knows when ‘aggressive’ volume will increase and drive prices in either direction. Isn’t market structure and perhaps market internals good enough?

in the first hour of trading when price bottomed out but the delta continued to downtick, would it not be useful to know that a break higher would catch a lot of traders with there pants down?

outstanding question,

what prompted this line of reasoning?

someone tip you off to this concept?, or was this organic (trying every option available, when configuring your setup)?

I intend to follow this thread closely

Sorry,

Yes I believe there is value in tracking the delta, not for entries or anything, but to track the "health" of the auction. In the attached chart I alluded to the delta (cumulative delta on bottom of chart) continued to tick down, while price had hit resistance. With this I reasoned that the market was continuing to get short but price wasn't responding. I used this information ALONG with the structure of the developing profile to buy the upside breakout with great expectations and reasonable comfort.

So, yes I find value in tracking the delta, as do lots of others. But for every person who says its a godsend, there is another to say its worthless.

Hi addchild, is that a bid/ask delta you are plotting below the price and is this available for download?

Thanks,

Olev.
