Hi All,

I am hoping I can get some advice regarding daytrading Asian Index futures. Like a lot of folks, I have a day job that doesn't let me follow normal US futures markets (I am on the East Coast of the US) I have tried to get up early to trade when the European markets are open but it just doesn't work out - you know, getting up at 3 am, etc.

I don't have any experience trading Asian futures during the regular Asian trading day and would like advice from people that do. Which Asian markets are good for short-term/scalping from about 6 pm - Midnight EST? That roughly correlates to part of the normal trading day in Asia.

Off hand, looking at Amp Futures instrument list, they allow trading in:

1. SFE SPI 200
2. S&P CNX Nifty
3. Nikkei
4. MSCI Taiwan Stock Index
5. As well as some bonds and currency futures that might be active during the Asian session.

BTW, I just plucked Amp out of the sky. I am sure there are other brokers that would give access to other Asian instruments.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Hi Scott,

I am an American living in the Philippines. The only instruments that I have found worth trading this side of the globe has been HSI and HHI. Both Chinese Index Futures. They are great instruments to trade. But they are expensive. About twice the equity required for other comparable US futuress such as the CL. And pay half as much.

IB is the only broker I could find to trade these instruments and eSignal was the only data provider that would provide me a decent tick level data feed. IB has servers in Hong Kong so the latency on orders is not as bad as one might think. IB has a $10,000 minimum to open an account.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Good luck, Al.
